Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Location: Gurnee, IL 60031
Pay: $120,000 â $140,000 per year
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance operations of our facility in Gurnee, IL. This hands-on leadership role will oversee a skilled maintenance team, manage capital projects, and ensure high performance in mechanical, electrical, and facility operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and supervise the maintenance team to ensure optimal performance and continuous development.
Develop and implement effective preventative maintenance schedules and systems to minimize downtime.
Conduct routine inspections of machinery, equipment, and facility systems to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Ensure compliance with USDA and FDA requirements related to maintenance and sanitation standards.
Manage departmental budget and inventory of parts and supplies.
Oversee and execute capital projects including cost analysis, planning, vendor coordination, and implementation.
Support energy cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Troubleshoot and maintain automated systems using PLCs and low-voltage electrical applications.
Coordinate with other departments to minimize production disruptions and ensure effective project execution.
Maintain accurate documentation related to maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and project outcomes.
Required Qualifications
B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of maintenance management or engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of:
CMMS and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) systems
Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of high-speed packaging equipment
PLCs, logic controllers, and automated systems
Budgeting and cost-benefit analysis for capital projects
Refrigeration systems (preferred)
Familiarity with USDA/FDA regulated facilities.
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and general PC usage.
