Collections Representative

Job Description

Primary Position Objective

As a Collections Specialist, you will make outbound collection calls as well as taking inbound calls to collect payments on past due accounts, and negotiate informal workout plans to resolve delinquency. You will process check by phone and exception payments (such as forbearance), research payment histories, and offer solutions to borrowers.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete collection call queues within the assigned timeframe.

Negotiate workout plans.

Handle high volume of incoming and outgoing collection calls.

Perform Collector functions as needed by the department, including Inbound call volume, Dialer responsibilities, Queue calls and tasks, fielding calls for other Collection teams and practice one call resolution.

Process check-by-phone requests received from borrowers.

Process exception payments.

Provide timely responses to borrower inquiries both verbal and written and according to RESPA guidelines.

May assist in reviewing and processing unapplied balances weekly.

Discuss with borrowers the programs available to assist with delinquencies and advising borrowers of programs at the company level, client, state, and federal assistance.

Notate clear documentation of call-in notes including pertinent information included in standard call.

Adhere to Quality Assurance guidelines, State and Federal regulations, company policies and procedures.

Additional Expectations:

A minimum of one year collection experience preferred.

Post-secondary education (i.e. 2-year degree or higher) preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.

Ability to write routine correspondence.

Intermediate skills are required in Excel, Word and Outlook.

Thorough understanding of FDCPA and CFPB.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus but not required.

Independent Judgment:

· The Collection Specialist will thoroughly understand department requirements and guidelines to properly assist borrowers.
