Qualifications:
High school diploma; Bachelors degree in interpretation, communication, or a related field preferred.
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., NIC, EIPA).
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods.
Experience interpreting in K-12 settings is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, educators, and staff.
Cultural competency and awareness in regards to deaf and hard of hearing communities.
Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various classroom settings.
Collaborate with teachers and support staff to facilitate effective communication and support student learning.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and relevant training.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and faculty.
Assess student needs and adapt interpreting styles to fit individual requirements.
Maintain accurate records of services provided and student progress.
