Sonar-Radar Signal Processing Software Engineer/Researcher Scientist
Salary Range: $150,000 - 200,000

In-Depth Engineering seeks a research scientist to join our signal processing team in our Columbia, MD office. In-Depth executes applied research and development programs involving the development of passive and active acoustic sensor and signal processing solutions principally in support of the US Navy. Current projects involve developing target classification solutions such as marine mammal recognition and torpedo detection using a novel algorithm that models processes in the mammalian brain, and a wide-area distributed acoustic environmental characterization system using a novel sensor and signal processing solution. Primary areas of focus include acoustic target detection, classification, localization (DCL), and tracking solutions, new sensor design, acoustic modeling and simulation, and applications of AI/ML.
We seek self-starters capable of independent effort as well as participation on a small team.
This is a permanent, full-time position and the work will be performed on-site in our Research and Development Lab in Columbia, Maryland.
Candidates for consideration must be a US citizen and be able to obtain an active Department of Defense secret clearance.
Duties:
Algorithm development to solve Navy acoustic DCL problems, including associated data analysis
Application, improvement, training, and testing of auditory model for various acoustic classification problems
Design, development, and testing of new acoustic sensor solutions
Execution of various modelling and simulation efforts
Development of novel concepts and approaches to solve Navy acoustics problems including, in particular, proposal writing
Requirements:
BS, MS or PhD (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or other related fields
BS + 14 years of experience, MS + 10 years of experience, PhD + 6 years of experience
Knowledge and experience in acoustics, signal processing, and algorithm development
Must be US Citizen for consideration
Must have an active secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Expert in the use of Matlab and/or Python
Experience with Linux
Experience with Java, C++
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
