Position Summary
The Gannon University Computer & Information Science department is committed to excellence in student-centered learning with an emphasis on student-learning outcomes. Teaching Assistants work collaboratively with faculty and colleagues to assist faculty with teaching related duties. The Teaching Assistant must maintain student confidentiality, display initiative, practice fair-mindedness, and be flexible with work requirements. Most of the teaching assistant’s primary duties are in support of instruction including but not limited to the responsibilities below: 1. Assist during class and/or lab. Teacher Assistant must be in the class/lab assigned. 2. Assist preparing and posting instructional materials, proctoring exams 2. Grade student assignments which require knowledge of subjects taught in a class or laboratory 4. Meet with and/or tutor students on request of faculty NACE Competencies: 1. Critical Thinking: Multi-task well in a fast-paced autonomous environment. 2. Professionalism: Prioritize and complete tasks to accomplish organizational goals.
Physical Demands
Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy academic environment.
Required Qualifications
Successful completion of all foundation courses and 9 credits of post-foundation MSCIS program with strong progression.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with tutoring or teaching role in undergraduate education.
