WHAT YOU'LL DO
Assist the Operations Director and Lead Building Technician in ensuring that the Meade Center for American Theater is a high quality and efficient facility.
Arena Stage, an award-winning regional theater, is seeking Building Technician for its 200,000 sq ft Mead Center for American Theater located in Southwest DC. The building contains three theater performance spaces with a total of 1,300 seats, administrative offices for 100 and technical shops for the construction of scenery, props, and costumes. In addition, there are rehearsal studios, a 70-car parking garage and several rooms for public meetings. The Mead Center generally operates 7 days per week from 9:00AM to midnight.
The Building Technician will report to the Operations Director and the Lead Building Technician on daily workload and maintenance schedule.
This role is responsible for all areas of building maintenance and supporting the overall operations of Arena Stage.
This position is for 2ndshift and must be available to work evenings & weekendsQualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
3+ years of direct experience in all aspects of operating and maintaining a commercial facility
Experience with computerized Building Management Systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in high-paced and collaborative environment
A self-starter
CFC Universal Certification REQUIRED
Engineering/Maintenance Certification PREFERRED [ CMT, NATE, BPI, OSHA 10]Core Responsibilities:
Assist in the managing operations of the building physical plant systems
Complete assigned support tickets as assigned by the Lead
Assist and ensure that the annual, quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily PM Arena/Warehouse tasks are completed based on the the schedule
Repair and maintain HVAC/mechanical services
Repair existing electrical or installation of new electrical circuits
Assist performing maintenance such as, but not limited to painting, tile repair, caulking, fixture replacement and other carpentry related tasks
Minor cleaning when sanitation staff is unavailable
Weekly waste removal staging; trash, recycling,
Weather related preparation and maintenance such as, snow removal, leaf collection, roof drain cleaning
Interior/exterior building
Ensuring proper Life/safety systems are maintained and functioning
Ensuring the facility is secure; review of locks, checking door mechanisms
Support Porter and over-hire with internal and external event set ups
Support Porter with light exterior cleaning such as, but limited to window cleaning, sidewalk sweeping.
Additional duties as assigned.
