Vista Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Coding Specialist to join our team. The Coding Specialist is responsible for accurately coding medical records, ensuring proper documentation, and assisting with the overall billing process. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to contribute to a critical area of healthcare operations.

Responsibilities:

Collect statistical data by entering information into the computer system.

Abstract clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts, and documents.

Assign appropriate ICD-10 and/or CPT codes to patient records.

Educate clinic staff and providers on billing policies and procedures.

Review patient financial charts and correct errors as necessary.

Verify coding and completion of documentation to ensure accuracy.

Submit patient claims in a timely manner.

Monitor and adjust patient accounts as needed.

Perform timely follow-up on billed accounts.

Obtain additional required billing information as necessary.

Requirements:

Minimum of a High School Diploma required.

Graduate of Health Information Management program or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred experience in inpatient and outpatient coding or the completion of a coding test before hire.

Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist - Physician (CCS-P), or RHIA, RHIT, CCS and/or CPS certification required within one year of employment.
