Job Description
The Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting team, while processing all general ledger activities as well as performing banking activities, accounts payable, carrier settlement payables, accounts receivable & collections, intercompany processing, and assist leadership with business needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (* DENOTES GDP RELATED FUNCTIONS):
•Lead, manage and hold team accountable
•Hands on accounting including general ledger activities, recording financial transactions, and maintaining accurate records
•Manage month end close & and year end closing process
•Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
•Support the VP Finance in managing the budget preparation and process, monthly variance reporting and financial reporting
•Oversee AP & AR activities, coordinating efforts within the team and ensuring cross-functional backup
•Manage banking functions including incoming & outgoing funds, positive pay and controls
•Perform account reconciliations, ensuring accounts are accurately reconciled, identifying discrepancies, and resolving them
•Support internal and external requests for financial information
•Analyze accounts and reports to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement and assist in resolution
•Design and implement advanced reporting formats to align with business needs
•Resolve billing issues and streamline processes
•Actively participate in process improvements & implementations, including the creation of SOPs, streamlining & applying best business practices
•Back up for payroll processing and reporting
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Attends all required training and staff meetings
•Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices
•Maintains a positive and professional demeanor towards customers, visitors, and co-workers

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or Finance required
•7+ years of accounting or finance background
•3 or more years in a senior accounting role managing a team
•Strong leadership and team management abilities
•Experience with the accounting system McCleod is a plus
•Strong understanding of accounting principles and analytical skills
•Ability to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results
•Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
•Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends effectively
•Ability to maintain confidential information
•Driven, enthusiastic, and highly motivated self-starter
•Adhere to strong moral & ethical standards
•Ability to build strong relationships
•Proficient in accounting software and Excel
