Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in OSP construction, with at least 2 in a management or supervisory role

• Strong knowledge of aerial and underground fiber construction methods

• Experience managing contractors, budgets, and schedules in the telecommunications industry

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, fiber network designs, and redlines

• Working knowledge of permitting, right-of-way, and utility coordination

• Proficient in project tracking tools (e.g., Excel, Smartsheet, GIS, IQGeo, construction management software, etc.)

• Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

• Valid driver’s license; ability to travel daily to job sites

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field

• OSHA 30 Certification

• PMP or equivalent project management certification

• Familiarity with local regulations and telecom construction in NC & SC

Job Description

An employer in the Charlotte market is looking for an OSP Telecommunications Construction Manager to join their team. The OSP (Outside Plant) Telecommunications Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of fiber optic and broadband infrastructure projects in the field. This role ensures construction activities meet quality standards, timelines, safety regulations, and budgetary requirements. The Construction Manager acts as a point of contact between engineering, field teams, subcontractors, and leadership to ensure project goals are met with excellence and operational efficiency. About 70% of the time would be spent in the field in own vehicle with mileage reimbursement, about 30% of the time in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Management:

• Manage multiple OSP construction projects simultaneously, from permitting through closeout.

• Track progress against schedules, budgets, and milestones.

• Coordinate with internal design, permitting, and inspection teams.

• Field Oversight:

• Supervise subcontractors and crews to ensure work is performed to standards.

• Conduct regular field inspections to verify construction quality and compliance.

• Ensure timely completion of punch lists and resolution of deficiencies.

• Compliance & Safety:

• Enforce safety policies and procedures in the field.

• Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT and OSHA.

• Vendor Management:

• Serve as the liaison between general contractors and company stakeholders.

• Hold vendors accountable for timelines, deliverables, and workmanship.

• Support negotiations and scopes of work for subcontracted services.

• Reporting & Documentation:

• Maintain accurate construction documentation, as-builts, redlines, and reports.

• Provide regular updates to leadership on project health and field issues.

• Escalate risks or delays appropriately.

• Stakeholder Communication:

• Work cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and quality assurance teams.

• Communicate project timelines, changes, and challenges effectively.

• Participate in meetings with municipalities and utility providers as needed.

Hourly Pay: $40-50/hr
