Position Description
Pay Grade: Manager 7
The Associate Dean of Business and Professional Services assists the Dean in providing oversight, leadership, and operational support for the division. This role focuses on quality control, faculty and student support, program administration, and collaboration with industry and community partners. Additionally, this position oversees the Small Business Center and Entrepreneurship initiatives, ensuring alignment with the division's strategic objectives. The Associate Dean assumes the Dean's responsibilities in their absence.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Assists with oversight, growth, and quality control of degree, diploma, and certificate programs within the Business and Professional Services Division.
*Supports division-wide institutional effectiveness initiatives, including assessment plans and student learning outcomes
*Works with the Dean on developing strategic goals and implementation plans for the division
*Oversees the Small Business Center and Entrepreneurship programs, ensuring alignment with institutional and division goals
*Supervises and supports the leadership of the Entrepreneurship & Small Business Center in developing and managing programming, workshops, community engagement, and funding opportunities
*Oversees partnerships with community organizations, chambers of commerce, and economic development agencies to support small business growth
*Assists with budget monitoring and allocation of resources across division programs
Ensures compliance with college, state, and accreditation standards in collaboration with the Dean
Represents the division in college-wide meetings, committees, and planning initiatives
Supports recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of faculty and staff within the division
Assists with professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to enhance instructional effectiveness
Provides mediation and conflict resolution for faculty and staff concerns
Supports entrepreneurship faculty in aligning their curriculum with industry needs and small business best practices
Collaborates with Student Services and other departments to address student needs, retention, and success initiatives
Assists in student issue resolution, including grade appeals and other academic concerns
Supports articulation agreements and Career and College Promise (CCP) programs in collaboration with the Dean
Works with department heads and the Registrar's Office on scheduling and enrollment management
Ensures entrepreneurship and business-related continuing education programs are accessible and meet student and industry demands
Assists in developing and maintaining industry partnerships for internships, apprenticeships, and job placement opportunities
Supports the expansion of entrepreneurship initiatives, including Launch Wake County and small business training programs
Engages with advisory boards to ensure programs remain aligned with industry and small business needs
Acts as a spokesperson for entrepreneurship and small business development initiatives at Wake Tech when needed
Supports grant development and implementation of grant-funded initiatives, including Small Business Center Network (SBCN) grants and Wake Tech Foundation support
Oversees financial reporting and budget tracking for entrepreneurship and small business initiatives in collaboration with the Senior Director of Entrepreneurship
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong leadership and organizational skills with experience in academic administration
Knowledge of business, entrepreneurship, small business development, hospitality, culinary, and professional services education
Experience in community partnerships and economic development, particularly in entrepreneurship
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and industry partners
Proficiency in data analysis, institutional effectiveness, and program assessment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and stakeholder engagement
Ability to fluently use MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in a relevant field within Business, Entrepreneurship, or related areas
Two years of post-secondary teaching experience in a business-related discipline
Two years of supervisory or management experience in academia or a business setting
Preferences:
Experience in a community college setting
Experience with institutional effectiveness and program accreditation
Experience in industry partnerships, small business development, and workforce training
Understanding of small business funding sources, grant management, and entrepreneurship ecosystems
