Academic Advisor

Description

The Academic Advisor for SOAR is responsible for providing academic advisement and success coaching support to new and continuing students through a seamless continuum of services from enrollment to graduation.

Detailed Work Activities

The incumbent has the following duties and responsibilities:

Essential Duties

Maintains the integrity of the College and its related foundations.

Represents the College professionally and handles all matters in a confidential manner.

Effectively manage the organization and implementation of workflow.

Provide holistic advisement, registration, career counseling, and success coaching for student caseload.

Work closely with faculty to support student success in the classroom.

Use AVISO Alert System and Element 451 (CRM) to communicate with students, faculty, and other campus departments.

Collaborate with student services units to promote student resources and garner assistance.

Assist with student activities to promote student success and leadership.

Assist with the development and implementation of workshops for students regarding soft skills, life skills, self-care, and academic success.

Effectively maintain electronic and hardcopy files.

Interprets the mission, educational philosophy, and vision statements of Robeson Community College to the general public.

Perform other duties as assigned.Planning

Participating in all aspects of the institutional planning process.

Supporting discipline-specific student learning outcomes and assessment.Organizing

Assisting with the development and revision of all official policies of Robeson

Community College as requested.

Organizing procedures for the implementation of all official policies and regulations of Robeson Community College and the NCCCS.

Assisting with the development of information for college marketing materials and social media.Directing

Stimulating and influencing innovation and creativity at all levels within the organization.

Serving as a role model and advocate for curriculum programs within Robeson Community College.Controlling

Maintaining compliance with established performance standards with the North Carolina Community College System, Robeson Community College and other

entities.

Public Relations

Maintaining intra-institution relationships with members of the Board of Trustees,administrative personnel and other employees of the college.

Providing appropriate liaison support with the North Carolina Community CollegeSystem, Robeson Community College and other relational entities.

Collaborating with the NCCCS staff of public relations and marketing opportunities.

Promoting Robeson Community College with local, state, regional and national citizenry.

Providing appropriate liaison support with the public schools in our region

Participating in activities that promote and enhance the college’s image among its various publics.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in education or related field.

At least 2 years' experience in counseling and/or advising in an educational institution that has included related types of responsibilities or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Other Qualifications

Must be able to demonstrate competencies in advising areas related to the

functions of the position.

Must be willing to work a nonstandard schedule to participate in recruitment events.
