Job Title: Platform Engineering Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager of Platform Engineering to lead our efforts in modernizing our cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will advocate for and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), centralized security measures, and auditing processes while fostering an automation-first mindset throughout the organization. This role will collaborate closely with development teams, improve application observability, and ensure the scalability, reliability, and reusability of our platform offerings. You will be responsible for the delivering high-quality platform-based solutions as part of the Platform Engineering team to support maximizing opportunity cost by ensuring that product value reaches customers in the quickest, most reliable and cost-effective way.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor the Platform Engineering team to ensure successful modernization initiatives.

Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to streamline deployments and infrastructure management.

Responsible for AWS Infrastructure, automation and CI/CD design, leading DevOps and enabling adoption of solutions and deployment in production environment

Collaborate closely with the engineering teams/business users to drive DevOps and AWS improvements and enhance usability

Should be able to develop overall strategy and roadmap for SRE/DevOps

Build strong relationships with application teams and develop a deep understanding of their business objectives and strategic drivers

Coaches and mentors, the team towards building a high performing self-sustaining team to deliver world class technical solutions to our customers

Establish centralized security protocols and auditing practices to safeguard cloud platforms.

Drive automation-first approaches for server patching and other operational tasks, improving efficiency and reducing manual interventions.

Collaborate with development teams to advocate for and promote the adoption of platform offerings, ensuring alignment with business needs.

Enhance application observability by implementing monitoring and logging solutions to provide insights into system performance and reliability.

Identify opportunities to reduce data backup and recovery costs while maintaining data integrity and availability.

Ensure all platforms developed for applications are scalable, reliable, and reusable, adhering to best practices and organizational standards.

Provide regular updates to leadership on progress, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

5+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or related fields, with at least 5+ years in a managerial role.

Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and related services.

Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.

Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements in cloud environments.

Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).

Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).

Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator).

Experience in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
