Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Software Engineer to lead the administration, customization, and enhancement of our SLIMS (Sample and Laboratory Information Management System) platform. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing the SLIMS database independently, designing and implementing custom workflows, and documenting and validating system modifications in alignment with lab processes and regulatory requirements. Strong proficiency in C# and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles is essential to support application integrations and back-end customizations.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Administer the SLIMS database, including user access, system configuration, and performance optimization.
· Design, develop, and implement custom SLIMS workflows, modules, and interfaces tailored to laboratory operations.
· Write and maintain C# code to support SLIMS custom modules, backend processes, and API integrations. Apply object-oriented software design principles to develop scalable, maintainable, and testable code.
· Document software requirements, functional specifications, and system architecture.
· Develop verification plans and validation documentation in accordance with internal QA/QC policies.
· Create and manage user integration testing (UIT) plans, collaborating with laboratory and IT staff to ensure accurate implementation.
· Analyze and troubleshoot system issues, proposing and executing long-term solutions.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with scientists, IT personnel, and QA teams to support SLIMS usage and enhancements.
· Maintain compliance with data integrity standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, ISO).

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Proven experience administering and developing within SLIMS or similar LIMS platforms (e.g., LabWare, STARLIMS, LabVantage).
· Strong proficiency in C# programming and object-oriented design and development.
· Solid experience with database management (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL) and SQL scripting.
· Proficient in customization and scripting within SLIMS (e.g., JavaScript, Python, XML).
· Experience in software lifecycle documentation, including requirements, design, and test planning.
· Familiarity with software verification and validation practices in regulated environments.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience in laboratory or clinical research environments.
· Understanding of regulated system environments (GMP, GLP).
· Knowledge of API integrations and data interchange standards (e.g., HL7, JSON, XML).
· Familiarity with Visual Studio and version control systems like Git or Azure DevOps.
EDUCATION:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Information Systems, or a related field.
