WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a leader to fill the role of Chief Probation Officer. If you have experience and education in this area, we just may have the perfect job for you.
Here are experiences and skills we are looking for:
Bachelor’s Degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or related field preferred; and
5 years of work experience in a related field with demonstration of advanced knowledge, skills & abilities in the performance of essential functions and probation caseload supervision;
Must possess a valid Idaho Driver’s license;
Either Juvenile or Adult Misdemeanor POST Certification or the ability to obtain certification as soon as available;
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
THE OPPORTUNITY: Chief Probation Officer
This position leads the Probation Department, manages juvenile probation, adult misdemeanor probation, pre-trial, diversion services, and supervises court ordered probation of offenders. It also performs preliminary and ongoing case management functions and prepares and processes support documentation for professional recommendations to the Court. Here are a few opportunities waiting for you:
Lead the department and supervise department employees. Hires new department employees, establishes and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities for the Department;
Develop, manage, and monitor budget and fiscal activity to ensure compliance with established cost and spending limitations; manage the financial accounting of the department including preparing billings and tracking and monitoring expenditures;
Attend various meetings and dispositions; meet with clients and family to instruct in probation obligations, regulations and practices; determines contact status and establishes probation program; complete detailed documentation; coordinate with other agencies;
Establish and maintain contacts with key individuals and organizations involved in the cases and case compliance such as detectives, school resource officers, school officials, attorneys, judges, parents, counselors, etc.;
Supervise, evaluate and train all levels of the probation staff;
Represent the Department and serve as liaison on various local and State professional boards and committees;
Perform follow-up as needed to assure client contact compliance;
Provide customer service the Teton County way!
This position reports to the County Commissioner and the Municipal Court Judge.
