Description
Position Summary: The Maintenance and Shop Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness and safety of a diverse range of equipment, vehicles, and machinery through regular maintenance and prompt repairs. This role involves detailed documentation and oversight of equipment status reports, maintenance schedules, and service logs to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements. The mechanic will be expected to proactively identify potential issues, conduct inspections, and communicate findings effectively with relevant stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to interpret technical manuals, and the capability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Routine duties will include scheduling preventative maintenance, updating work orders, and keeping accurate records in digital tracking systems to support operational efficiency.
Tasks:
· Assist and preform inspections, greasing, oil check/change, record and report findings
o Conduct thorough inspections according to scheduled intervals (daily, weekly, monthly) to ensure equipment functionality and safety
o Perform routine maintenance tasks such as greasing, oil checks/changes, and accurately document and report all findings or abnormalities.
· Repair/replace parts as needed to keep in optimal operating condition
o Diagnose equipment issues and implement effective solutions to restore full functionality
o Install new components or refurbish existing ones to maintain peak performance and minimize downtime
· Plan and build parts with machinist for repairs.
· Log repairs that are completed.
o Report all repairs conducted.
o Add any additional new repairs to company project management software
· Troubleshoot mechanical functions and electrical control.
o Identify and resolve issues related to mechanical systems and electrical controls to ensure smooth operation
o Utilize diagnostic tools and technical knowledge to analyze system malfunctions and implement corrective actions
· Communicate plans and status to management and operators.
o Provide clear updates on maintenance activities and equipment status to both supervisors and machine operators
o Collaborate with team members and leadership to align on work priorities and ensure transparent communication
· Research and source part, gather quotes, and purchase.
o Identify appropriate replacement components through research and vendor outreach, ensuring compatibility and quality.
o Collect pricing information, seek necessary approvals, and complete procurement of required parts efficiently.
· Using and verifying proper lock out, tag out procedures
o Follow established lockout/tagout protocols to ensure safe maintenance and prevent accidental equipment startup.
o Confirm energy sources are properly isolated and secured before performing any repair or inspection tasks.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Capabilities:
· Valid US driver’s license and clean record.
· Must be able to maintain good attendance, arrive on time and stay for whole shift
· Able to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly.
· Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
· Moderate Computer Skills
· Operation, inspection, and repair of Forklift, Manlift, and overhead crane
· Proficient understanding and operation of hand tools and multimeter
· Basic understanding of metal forming equipment
· Proficient understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric control
· Able to work on feet for most of shift.
· Good communication skills
