Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manages the parish/school internal review program ensuring that internal controls are reviewed at all parishes and schools of the diocese.

Develops and implements risk assessment tools to determine priorities.

Develop standards with the goal of ensuring assets are secured, and financial information accurately recorded.

Provides support to parishes and schools with accounting, internal control, and tax guidance.

Assists in the administration of the property/liability and ancillary insurance programs.

Demonstrates a commitment to continual learning. Stays abreast of relevant regulations, laws, and accounting standards.

Assists with other departmental duties as needed or requested by the CFO.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required. Three years’ experience in a position with similar responsibilities desirable.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of algebra.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software; intermediate-level skills in Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.
