MUST
Mid-Level Systems Engineer
Active DoD Secret clearance and the willingness to obtain TS/SCI Eligibility
Certifications' 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+)
Preferred DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification; CISSP or equivalent certification
5 years min of experience in systems engineering or implementation roles with a focus on voice, video, and file services in secure DoD environments
Proficient in the deployment of monitoring, automation, and security tools in classified or highly regulated environments
Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and system integration
Demonstrated experience implementing RMF/NIST SP 800-53 security controls, especially for PL-3 and higher environments
Familiarity with STIG applications, RMF processes, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks
Preferred Familiarity with Special Access Program security requirements
Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, cloud-focused environment
Education: Bachelor's degree in information systems, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Master's degree (Information Technology related field preferred)
DUTIES
Lead the deployment and integration of system monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, Nagios, ELK, Prometheus) into existing DoD enterprise infrastructure
Implement and integrate automation and orchestration frameworks using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and custom Python/PowerShell scripts to streamline configuration management and system provisioning
Engineer end-to-end solutions that connect disparate systems, ensuring full interoperability while meeting DoD architecture and security standards
Conduct system-level testing, validation, and performance tuning post-integration to ensure seamless functionality and stability
Build and integrate real-time monitoring capabilities for system health, network performance, and security events across multi-domain environments
Automate repetitive operational tasks and integrate alerting and remediation workflows to reduce human intervention and risk
Support infrastructure-as-code principles to enable repeatable deployments and consistent configuration across systems
Produce integration documentation, configuration guides, and SOPs to support sustainment and audits
Work closely with system architects, security analysts, and DevSecOps teams to align implementations with mission goals and compliance baselines
Participate in design reviews and contribute to strategic planning for future system enhancements and integrations
Integrate security tools and controls into the system lifecycle to meet DoD RMF requirements and PL-3 security controls
Deploy and configure endpoint protection, audit logging, encryption, and other security enforcement tools across hybrid and on-prem environments
Translate PL-3 security requirements into technical implementations that protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability
