The Campus Rec Student Worker is responsible for performing operational tasks for Campus Recreation programs and facilities. They will provide excellent customer service, maintain facility and asset cleanliness, ensure that all policies are followed by guests and participants, and ensure all safety measures are being implemented.

Student Activities Event Staff will assist in the execution of the events found on the Student Activities calendar. This will primarily involve working at assigned events, evaluating current events and analyzing how to improve them, and promoting various events throughout the week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for ensuring that all Student Activities events operate effectively and efficiently, while assessing event and attendee needs and implementing effective solutions.

Ensure event set-up, decorating, production, and tear down are completed for various Student Activities events, including: Movie Nights, concerts, Block Party, Coffeehouse, Homecoming and more.

Responsible for security, hospitality, promotion etc. at Student Activities events as needed.

Maintain a working knowledge of all event details on the Student Activities calendar and properly promote these events.

Assist in the maintenance and adherence of policies and procedures during events at Student Activities Events, ensuring compliance with University policies.

Responsible to assist with the promotion of Student Activities programming and events.

Administer and collect surveys at events and contribute to post-event evaluations for program improvement and future planning and execution.

Attend all required Student Activities trainings and meetings.

Regularly assist with events and operations during evening, nights or weekend hours.

Perform all other tasks assigned by the Special Events Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently Liberty University student

Ability to work up to 18 hours per week

Availability to work a variety of different shifts (weekends, early morning, afternoon, late night)

Creative and outgoing personality

Ability to work well in a team environment

Ability to work under pressure Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in event planning or management

Experience in a customer service position

Experience with Microsoft Office programs ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

Communication and Comprehension

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.

Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.

Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.

Strong organizational skills.

Excellent computer skills. Problem Solving

Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Physical and Sensory Abilities

Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations.

Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. (If not administrative duties, such as labor, define general physical abilities.

Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.

Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.

Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.

Regularly lift 50 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is split between a climate-controlled office setting and aquatic facilities. Both areas are well lit and the noise level is moderate. Work in aquatic facilities will necessitate handling aquatic chemicals to maintain a safe environment.
