Plant Controller

We are looking for a Plant Controller to support our Cleveland manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for ensuring proper accounting for plant operations including inventory, financial reporting, developing operational analysis within multiple product lines of the division, assuring the integrity of our standard costs, and performing variance analysis. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy self-starter, possess a strong background in manufacturing, enjoy working collaboratively with cross-functional team members from corporate and individual business units, and have a strong business acumen.

Responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility of standard cost accounting / inventory valuation including annual reset of material, labor and overhead rates

• Monthly variance analysis (Material, Labor and Overhead)

• Review work order variances with the production team

• Engineering and development of new product standard costing

• Lead periodic meetings with management to discuss variances, Production KPI's, any other Plant/Production requirements

• Supervise team of two cost accountants responsible for daily cost activities, monthly account reconciliations, etc.

• Analyze inventory transactions for accuracy and completeness in support of monthly financial reporting

• Review monthly inventory journal entries, account reconciliations and inventory reserve and capitalized variance calculations

• Work with supply chain to develop or better understand existing metrics and KPIs that influence financial performance

• Assists in the annual budgeting process

• Oversee the physical inventory program including monitoring and reporting the results of cycle and full counts

• Analyze costs of materials, processes and labor to determine opportunities and methods for reduction of production and inventory costs

• Develop and/or update accounting and operational process and procedures documentation around the inventory management and costing processes

• Perform ad hoc operational analyses and projects as needed, including make vs. buy analysis, support for pricing decisions, capital project studies, and other margin enhancement projects

Requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field

• 5-8+ years cost accounting and supervisory experience

• Extensive experience in manufacturing/plant environment, production routing, bill of material

• Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment

• Strong Excel skills, especially advanced financial modeling and analytical techniques

• Familiarity with an AS400 based ERP system (i.e., PRMS) is a plus as well as knowledge of OneStream

• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently

• Excellent analytical skills; strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail

• Manage direct staff including scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing work; identifying and resolving problems

• Oversee the physical inventory program including monitoring and reporting the results of cycle and full counts

• Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting
