THE POSITION
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Correction Community Center Monitor, you will provide care, custody, and control of the re-entrant population at Johnstown CCC and assist other staff in facilitating and monitoring the changes necessary for re-entrants' successful completion of the program. Your duties will include maintaining the daily activity logs, observing re-entrant behavior through one-on-one and group interactions, conducting re-entrant counts, and searching for re-entrants for contraband. In this position, you will maintain and inventory prescription medications, security equipment, and housekeeping supplies. You will also conduct orientations for new re-entrants which will include reviewing DOC and CCC rules and regulations, providing information on the availability of public services, and assigning rooms and housekeeping duties. You can expect to write behavior observations, issue misconduct warnings, and attend disciplinary hearings. Additionally, you will provide information to visitors and serve as a point-of-contact for law enforcement agencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,268.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
You must be willing and able to work in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
This position requires shift work. You must be willing and able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
You must be able to perform essential job functions. Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military).
