As a K–12 school-based Special Education Teacher in the Washington, DC area, you’ll provide specialized instruction and support services that empower students with diverse learning needs to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Individualized Instruction: Deliver direct instruction to students with IEPs using evidence-based methods tailored to their learning styles and needs
IEP Development & Implementation: Collaborate in IEP meetings, set measurable goals, and implement individualized education plans in compliance with state and federal regulations
Behavior & Academic Support: Develop strategies and accommodations to support behavioral regulation, executive functioning, and academic growth
Collaboration: Partner with general education teachers, therapists, parents, and school staff to ensure student success across all environments
Progress Monitoring: Track student data, assess progress, and adjust instruction based on evolving needs
Classroom Management: Create a structured, inclusive learning environment that fosters respect, engagement, and independence
Job Details
Position Type: Contract role in a school setting (with option to extend into the 2025–2026 school year based on mutual interest)
Location: Washington, DC area
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8: 00 AM –12: 00 PM (20 hours/week)
Pay Rate: $40–$50+ per hour
Caseload: K–12 students;assignments based on district needs and teacher expertise
What You Bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (required)
Active Special Education Teaching Certification in Washington, DC (required)
Prior experience in a school-based or special education setting (preferred)
Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
Authorization to work in the U.S. Without sponsorship
