We are recruiting for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a not-for-profit organization in the health and human services sector in the Sacramento area. This position reports to a highly regarded CEO with strong business acumen. Our client offers excellent benefits, work life balance and an extremely collaborative work environment. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for all aspects of the financial operations for the organization, which includes all financial obligation. The qualified candidate will have strong leadership experience with FP&A. This position will have a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite. Salary: $200k - $250k, DOE.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and controls to maximize the organization's assets
Manage Finance and Payroll departments, with oversight of Revenue Cycle functions
Provide financial performance analysis and key metrics to leadership, including Board of Directors and CEO
Lead strategic financial planning, forecasting trends, and identifying revenue enhancement opportunities
Ensure compliance with regulations, financial audits, and effective internal financial management control
Review and negotiate payer and grant contracts while managing financial systems to ensure compliance with GAAP and governing regulations.
Manage accounts receivable, cash collections, and fiscal operations, ensuring accurate reporting and timely reconciliation.
Maintain adherence to HRSA, OPIAS, CMS guidelines, promote compliance with sliding fee scales and facilitate audit readiness.
Act as the external financial representative, engage in funding opportunities for medical organizations, support financial planning, and collaborate with leadership for long-term sustainability.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) with 10+ years managing finances for a $100M+ budget; MBA or CPA preferred.
5+ years in a supervisory role, including department goal setting, staff development, and workload management.
Healthcare accounting experience is required, with a strong preference for expertise in financial operations within medical organizations.
Advanced GAAP understanding, experience with federal/state/private grants, and non-profit accounting expertise.
