PAINTER-JOURNEYMAN

Under the general supervision of the Manager, Plant Operations (MPO), this position is responsible for applications of various types of interior and exterior finishes in a hospital environment. Performs all painting in a professional and cost effective manner.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)

Applies covering to walls such as vinyl paper or acoustical fabric whenever specified.

Applies paints, varnishes, stain enamels or lacquers to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures as job dictates.

Prepares daily painter reports and submits to MPO on a monthly basis.

Prepares surfaces to be painted, fills nail holes, joints and cracks as needed.

Sands and scrapes to ensure a smooth surface to accept finish.

Performs dry walling and minor repair of plaster walls when needed.

Protects surfaces by removing items such as switch plates and by using masking tape and drop cloths on a daily basis.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Completed approved painters' apprenticeship and holds a Journeyman's card.

Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing

Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue prints, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the hospital.

Ability to clearly see objects at a distance as well as close up to perform the job.

Ability to give and take verbal communications.

Must be alert and able to concentrate on work.

Ability to give and take verbal communications.

Provide compassionate, quality health services for employees, physicians and customers.

Completed approved painters' apprenticeship and holds a Journeyman's card.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required

Completed approved painters' apprenticeship

4 Painter Required
