Minimum Qualifications and Other Desirable Attributes:
The selected candidate must have earned a Ph.D. and received formal training in Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Imaging Analysis, or a related field. Candidates should have demonstrated experience working in a collaborative research environment, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and show a clear interest in pursuing independent research funding.
The Department of Cell Biology, in partnership with the Center for Biologic Imaging at the University of Pittsburgh, seeks exceptional applicants for a Research Instructor position (appointment stream).
We are particularly interested in candidates with:
A strong track record in scientific software development
Experience in the analysis of tera-scale microscopy data
Proficiency with Linux and high-performance computing clusters managed by Slurm
Expertise in Python programming and familiarity with Python’s scientific libraries for data analytics and image analysis (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, scikit-image, pandas, etc.)
