Research Senior Technician - to assist and support scientific investigation to study the role of tumor microenvironment in cancer progression and treatment resistance as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of routine in vivo lab animal experiments including immune cell isolation, cancer cell inoculation, tumor growth measurements and treatment administration; maintains a mouse colony; independently conducts in vitro experiments under nonmonic and hypoxic conditions including molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including immunoblots, ELISA assays, PCR reactions; sorts and processes tissue samples; tests and evaluates current procedures; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a Biological/ Health Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
