Job Description

Manages multi-unit, seven-day, multiple-shift operations, with separate operations housed in different locations/buildings, which may have multiple styles of service including traditional cafeteria, made to order, café, delivery and catering service, and serves approximately 2,500 students, staff and guests each day; supervises and administers personnel functions including hiring, supervision and performance management for as many as 25 fulltime regular employees and 200 part-time student employees; manages all aspects of forecasting, procurement, production, service and customer relations; leads and fosters a team of staff, in a diversity-valued organization, to serve and support customers in the university environment; ensures that meals are served on time and in accordance with prescribed standards; oversees use of computerized food management and access systems; evaluates and assists in developing policies, procedures and services throughout the department.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

Required:

Basic knowledge of computers & Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of ServSafe or other food safety program

3 years of experience in food service

3 years of experience with and ability to calculate food, labor and supplies cost

3 years of management supervision

3 years of experience in using a computerized food management system, POS system and scheduling system

3 years demonstrated experience in customer service management

Desired:

4-8 years of relevant experience in managing high-volume food operations

Experience with multi-unit management & operations containing multiple different service styles

Experience managing in a unionized environment

4-8 years of experience in developing teams of managers & full-time employees, coaching staff, & performance management

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite

Experience with food service software (e.g., Jamix, GrubHub, Nutrislice)

Experience with HR management & scheduling software (e.g., Workday, SubItUp)

4-8 years of experience with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards

ServSafe Manager (ODH Level 2) certification or equivalent.

Additional Information:

The Ohio State University’s Student Life Dining Services is a premier campus dining department dedicated to serving students, staff, faculty and guests. Critical to the Residential Experience, Dining Services administers the student meal plan to approximately 15,000 residential students on the Columbus, Mansfield, Marion, Newark and Wooster campuses.

This position is located at Marketplace on Neil and will support our Marketplace operations serving a range of items including deli-style sandwiches, custom rice and pasta bowls, stone fired pizza, sushi station, & build your own salad bar. This location also features a Coffee Shop concept in-house, serving espresso drinks & breakfast sandwiches, as well as a convenience store featuring grocery items, and much more. This position will also support nearby Postle Cafe, Hamilton Cafe, & Caffeine Element.

The target hiring range for this position is $55,100 - $72,400. Offers will be made within this range based on candidate qualifications as well as internal equity and available budget.
