Resource Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Who We Are:
Elliot Hospital’s Women's and Children's Services are dedicated to addressing the specific health and wellness needs of women and their children. Options for Labor and Delivery include nitrous oxide, epidural anesthesia, surgical safety compliant with World Health Organization guidelines for cesarean births and more. On average, there are 150-180 deliveries per month, 10 beds with 2 ORs and a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3.
About the Job:
The Resource Nurse directly oversees and serves as an immediate, first line clinical resource to staff on the floor of Labor and Delivery. The RRN will demonstrates well developed clinical competencies appropriate to the floor when providing direct patient care or guiding staff. The position will function as an integral member of the L&D management team and will work to ensure operations of unit on assigned shift are running efficiently. The RRN will adhere to the values under the EHS Professional Practice Model which guide all dimensions of practice.
What You’ll Do:
Participates in professional enhancement activities including membership in hospital-wide committees, health system initiatives, development of education materials, professional association activities
Provides support and leadership to the Fitch team in developing integrated approaches to care including assisting staff with the provision of care to assigned patients and assuming a partial patient assignment
Works in partnership with and serves as a resource to medical staff for relevant clinical issues
Collaborates and supports the Clinical Nurse Manager
Teams up with the Clinical Nurse Manager to effectively control costs through innovative and economical utilization of personnel, materials and equipment
Supports the department’s Shared Governance structure and is accountable for quality improvement outcomes
Who You Are:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ASN or BSN – BSN preferred)
Minimum of two (2) years of current experience in an acute care setting required (Labor and Delivery experience required)
Current New Hampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as Registered Nurse required
Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientation period and maintain during employment – ACLS preferred
