The Intermediate Patient Care Externship offers nursing students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in acute care settings.
Participants assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, feeding, bathing, and ambulation under RN supervision.
They work alongside RN mentors, collaborating on patient care, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
Externs receive increased clinical exposure, fostering critical thinking, holistic patient care, and professional socialization.
The program promotes a realistic clinical environment, encouraging career exploration and networking in nursing.
Requirements include current enrollment in an accredited RN program, completion of at least 2 clinical semesters, and BLS certification within 90 days.
Strong communication, time management, analytical skills, and flexibility are essential.
