The Senior Coder role is an experienced professional with expertise across multiple service lines, reporting to the Manager/Assistant Director of Coding.
Responsible for coverage and projects in various specialties, performing advanced tasks, and serving as an expert in their area.
Expected to maintain a 95%+ quarterly quality score by adhering to coding guidelines and ethical standards.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a coding course, and a minimum of 3 years coding experience.
Skills include strong data interpretation, expert knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, PCS systems, excellent communication, and computer proficiency.
Must hold one of the core credentials (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC, CPC) and preferably additional specialty certifications.
The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and effective communication with clinical staff and management.
