The Jr. High Health / High School Football Coach is responsible for promoting the student/athlete philosophy both during the academic instruction of the classroom and total athletic program. This person must demonstrate strong content knowledge in their academic teaching area as well as a climate of "respect" to ensure a strong academic environment. The person should also demonstrate an attitude of preparation for the classroom and field to maximize the total student academic learning and their cheer ability. Demonstrate leadership in student overall wellness/ football skills, development of these attributes: sportsmanship, integrity and character.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a valid teaching license sceondary school core subject endorsement and a basketball coaching endorsement

At least one (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience preferred

Measurable evidence of driving student achievement gains

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and the willingness and desire to support others in doing their best work

To be an effective educator in the classroom and on the court

Assists in maintaining high academic standards for all students

Assists in directing the junior high school basketball program in all phases at a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm

Works cooperatively with other athletic coaches in order to operate a well-balanced athletic program

Fosters among the participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, a desire to win, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school and community

Responsibilities:

Provides an instructional program to meet the needs of all students

Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enable each student to achieve learning objectives

Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior

Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques, which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives

Takes all necessary and safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities

Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy

Fosters among the participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of the sports programs a desire to perform at the highest level, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school, and community

Works cooperatively with building administrators and Athletic Supervisor

Establishes and enforces the physical, academic and training requirements of eligibility for participation; monitors class attendance and conduct of all athletes; coordinates required physical examinations for athletes

Attends all athletic events in assigned sport and shows interest and support for other athletic and academic events

Knowledge of State Common Core Curriculum and adopted guidelines

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with students, school & district staff, parents and patrons

Participates in endorsement area curriculum and other developmental programs

Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve learning problems

Models instruction without being abrasive or judgmental

Responsible for Offseason students, Ass't track, Ass't bb, etc.

Responsible for sport/supervision area that isn't covered with an Assistant Coach

Demonstrates proper sportsmanship and respect for players, officials, opponents, fans, and other coaches

Maintains good public relations with media, boosters, parents, officials, players, fans, etc.

Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, staff, and school administration

Serves as a positive role model for students, coaching staff, and the community

Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to implement effective coaching theory, strategies, and techniques appropriate for junior high school athletes

Effectively motivates student athletes to participate and sustain their interests in the program

Works effectively with student athletes of varying abilities, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork

Demonstrates knowledge of and adhere to and keep abreast of rules and regulations set forth by Arkansas Activities Association

Assumes responsibility for proper care of the school facilities

Supervises all students under his or her care and reports injuries to administration in a timely manner

Assists in building and sustaining a successful program that is widely supported and respected by the Pine Bluff School District and the community at large

Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Supervisor
