Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Greets patrons utilizing or visiting the Recreation Center, Miller Activity Complex, or Cantril Building
Accepts fees for facility use. Registers participants and collects fees for programs and activities including childcare punch cards, private fitness and swim cards. Provides, checks and renews membership and resident id cards; takes pictures for cards
Modifies pass types for customers. Voids transactions in registration and Point of Sale systems
Counts all cash, checks and credit card slips at end of shift. Completes cash reports for registration and Point of Sale systems
Provides customer service by responding to patron concerns and issues; providing information regarding the recreation facility, programs offered, and schedules in person and via phone; and answering the phone and responding to questions
Maintains towel supply; washes, dries and stores towels
Maintains facility cleanliness. Requests maintenance repairs and cleaning in coordination with the maintenance department
Provides direction to Front Desk Attendants
Opens and closes facility to customers
Helps develop process improvements at the front desk
Assists with Pro shop audits
Prints and distributes facility room schedules. Keeps abreast of staff members' responsibilities and physical location and schedule of activities, programs and events
Performs all duties of Front Desk Attendant
Performs other duties as assigned or required
Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: One to two (1-2) years' experience in a public setting providing customer service
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
A CPR and First Aid certificate are required, or ability to attain within 30 days (these can be obtained at the Recreation Center)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures
Knowledge of the Recreation Center's programs and activities
Skill in providing guest services and in communicating effectively in person and over telephone
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patrons and coworkers
Ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy in frequent public contact
Ability to organize and review work for efficient results and accuracy
Ability to handle diverse tasks while maintaining attention to detail for accuracy
Skill in operating a computer keyboard and ability to learn specific Recreation Center application
Ability to perform basic math skills in accepting fees and completing cash reports
Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and advisory data to problem resolution. Advisory data includes Parks and Recreation policies and procedures
Ability to work in a team environment
Physical Demands:
Sedentary work for long periods of time
Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds
Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment
Equipment Used:
Uses standard office equipment including a personal computer system
