In anticipation of an award, Tantus Technologies, Inc. (Tantus) - recognized by the Washington Post as a Top Workplace - is seeking a Network Operations Engineer. YOu will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting of enterprise network and infrastructure systems. Operating within an O&M framework, this role ensures system availability, performance, and reliability in alignment with service level expectations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, and NetApp environments.
Location: This is a hybrid role in Bethesda, MD. Clearance: This position supports a federal contract and requires the ability to pass a background check.
What You'll Do
Monitor network and system health using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, NetApp Active IQ).
Perform first-level diagnosis and troubleshooting of network, server, and storage issues.
Escalate incidents and issues to higher-tier support when necessary, while maintaining ownership until resolution or reassignment.
Execute standard O&M procedures such as backups, patching, and routine maintenance across Microsoft, VMware, and Cisco environments.
Assist in the management of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies, and user account provisioning.
Support basic virtualization tasks and VM monitoring within VMware environments.
Provide operational support for storage systems, preferably NetApp-based solutions.
Document incidents, resolutions, and operational tasks in the ITSM tool (e.g., ServiceNow).
Maintain compliance with security and operational policies.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field of study. Additional 5 years of relevant experience can be used in leiu of a Bachelor's Degree.
5+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration, or network support.
Working knowledge of:
Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, AD, Exchange, Office 365)
VMware vSphere/ESXi
Cisco networking (basic routing, switching, wireless)
NetApp storage systems (preferred)
Understanding of ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management.
Abilities
Ability to follow SOPs, runbooks, and escalation procedures in a 24/7 operations environment.

Salary Range
Salary range is $140,000-160,000/year. The salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors that influence compensation decisions, including skills, experience, training, certifications, and organizational needs.
