IERUS is seeking highly skilled and motivated engineers to support the design and development of RF and Optical hardware systems for sensing, communication, and EA/EW applications. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of advanced hardware systems, contributing to the success of mission-critical applications. Candidates are expected to have experience with printed circuit board (PCB) design, analysis, and testing, along with their integration with other system components such as power electronics or high-speed communications interfaces.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop PCBs to support RF, power electronics, and high-speed electronics;
Generate and support detailed hardware specifications, schematics, and PCB layouts for advanced hardware boards;
Act as technical focal for junior staff working on PCB designs;
Maintain current knowledge on PCB fabrication process, material availability, and best practices for PCB design;
Determine layer stack up, component selection and placement, and routing of analog, digital, RF, and/or high-power signals;
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions;
Perform prototype testing, troubleshooting, and validation of circuit boards;
Maintain component and design libraries;
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations;
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system and subsystem specifications, test plans and procedures, and design and analysis reports;
Conduct feasibility studies, analysis, and simulation for new hardware designs, ensuring compliance with military standards and requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field;
5+ years of professional experience;
Proficiency in relevant tools and software for schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation (e.g., Altium, SIwave, Cadence Microwave Office, SPICE, );
Strong understanding of electrical circuits;
Strong understanding PCB fabrication processes;
Strong understanding of PCB laminates and process limitations;
Strong understanding of best practices for mixed signal and high-speed layouts;
Familiarity with military standards and specifications related to hardware design;
Ability to balance priorities among multiple tasks and projects;
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills;
Effective communication and collaboration skills;
U.S. Citizen;
Active Security clearance.
Preferred Skills:
8+ years of professional experience;
Experience in designing power electronics and high-voltage systems;
Experience with wireless design and basic principles of RF and antenna theory;
Experience with testing and validation of hardware systems, including thermal and environmental testing;
Experience with layout of FPGA, DRAM, CPU, and other high-density components;
Experience with layout of mixed analog and digital signals, including high speed data lines and RF lines, along with impedance-controlled traces;
Component authenticity verification;
Design and quality management certifications.
