The Payroll Analyst will process payroll functions for biweekly, monthly and quarterly payrolls for multiple FEINs and multiple states. Manual updates and manual imports of employee maintenance in the Dayforce payroll system are necessary to process accurate payrolls.
Responsibilities:
Process payroll adjustments such as bonuses, severance, retro, fringe benefits, personal charges and state SDI payments
Process new hire/rehire payroll setups for timesheet users, non- timesheet users, exempt staff, non- exempt staff and Principals; data entry of tax and direct deposit information; shadow payroll processes; review of Health & Welfare deductions and 401(k) elections including manual setup of Profit Sharing & 401(k)
Match eligibility dates
Process voluntary and involuntary terminations; ensure final pay check timing compliant with state laws; ensure accurate final compensation, payouts, tax withholding and deductions; requires preparation and submission of manual wire transfer requests, including corresponding accounting journal entries
Prepare biweekly hours and compensation reports; liaison with Human Resource team members to ensure proper timesheet reporting. Note that timesheet reviews occasionally occur on a Baker & McKenzie holiday
Maintain leave of absence schedules and manual override of timesheet entries with appropriate leave hours
Oversee Manager Assignment import, including audit changes, manual updates and manual setup of new employee records for Timesheet Approving
Generate payroll reports (audit, Ad Hoc, QTD, YTD); includes biweekly benefit deduction reconciliation
Conduct detailed audits of Dayforce database information
Assist local offices with Ceridian Time Premium troubleshooting
Respond to local office payroll inquiries
Skills and Experience:
Payroll experience, preferably with Dayforce (previously Ceridian)
HRIS experience with SuccessFactors and programs like BenefitFocus
Multistate tax withholding knowledge, especially in states with reciprocity
Close attention to detail is mandatory
Account reconciliation experience

Intermediate Excel skills, including Vlookup and basic formulas
Organizational skills with the capacity to coordinate many projects simultaneously
Basic knowledge of tax filings and reporting
Proficient with PC applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, iManage and SharePoint
Interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multiple offices
This position is bonus-eligible and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked. The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $80,000 to $85,000 annually if located in Chicago. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
