Render is looking for a Computer Security Systems Specialist to join our highly competent and motivated Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC) team. This position is located aboard Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point and will serve as the NAWC’s on-site liaison supporting ongoing and future Satellite Communication (SATCOM) and Information Technology (IT) networking/communications efforts under a fast-moving, highly rewarding program. Primary responsibilities include:
Full life cycle support for local and wide area network infrastructure and connected devices
Installation and configuration of networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, in-line encryption, etc.)
Provide support for Ku, C-Band, VHF, and UHF frequency requests
Install, configure, and commission SATCOM terminals (e.g., VSAT, X/Ku/Ka-band systems)
Provide on-site and remote technical support to resolve SATCOM-related issues
Perform diagnostics, testing, and repair of RF components, modems, antennas, routers, and associated hardware/software
Maintain operational readiness of deployed SATCOM systems through regular inspections and preventive maintenance
Ensure compliance with security protocols, network encryption standards, and DoD/FCC/ITU regulations (if applicable)
Provide support for SATCOM integration with other communications systems (e.g., tactical radios, IP networks)
Interface with engineering and logistics teams to support system upgrades, spares, and field updates
Troubleshooting/fault isolation of technical issues
Document all service activities, create after-action reports, and maintain maintenance logs
Implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of network security measures
Oversight and mentorship of subordinate staff
Analyzes and defines Information Assurance security requirements for Multiple Security Levels (MSL) systems and non-MLS systems
Designs, develops, engineers, and implements solutions to MLS and non-MLS requirements
Gathers and organizes technical information about an organization’s missions, goals, and requirements, existing security products, and ongoing programs in the Information Assurance arena
QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or IT-related field; minimum 12 years relevant experience
Strong knowledge of satellite network architectures and RF theory
Experience in USMC frequency request and management processes
Experience with SATCOM modems (L3 Harris, Hughes, etc.) and antennas (auto-acquire, fixed)
Proficiency in IP networking, VLANs, routers, and firewalls
Ability to read schematics, block diagrams, and technical manuals
Experience managing network devices (switches, routers, firewalls, IDS/IPS, cryptographic equipment, etc.)
Active DoDD 8140/DoD 8570 certification
Excellent written and verbal communication
Experience with Microsoft® Visio
Must possess and maintain TS clearance
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED)
- Security+, CCNA, CCNP, GVF certifications
- Manufacturer-specific SATCOM training
- Knowledge of Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN) user and administrative processes
- WSUS or Red Hat Satellite Server experience
- Experience implementing DISA STIGs, group policies, and HBSS

This position has an annual salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 based on annualized USD. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and education and in consideration of internal pay equality.
