Synerfac is seeking a Generator Service Technician for our client who is a leading supplier and installer of backup power solutions for residential, industrial and agricultural users throughout the Shenandoah Valley.
The Generator Service Technician role will be involved in routine maintenance, testing, rental generator setup, fuel services, and remote monitoring installations.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair alternating electrical systems on diesel, LP gas, and natural gas generator sets, including electrical services, automatic transfer switches, and accessories.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and testing, including fluid and filter changes.
- Set up, disconnect, and return rental generators.
- Conduct resistive load bank testing on generators and transfer switches.
- Perform diesel fuel maintenance testing and polishing services.
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair wireless remote monitoring systems for generators and transfer switches.
- Work beyond standard business hours when needed for critical projects.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, invoices, warranties, timesheets, equipment details, parts lists, and load bank reports.
- Keep the assigned service vehicle in top condition and maintain proper stock of service parts.
- Ensure all tools and technology are functional, reporting any issues to the Service Operations Administrator.
- 4+ years in power generation, engine repair, or controls
- Valid Virginia Driver"s License with an acceptable driving record (as defined by our insurer).
- Must pass a DOT physical, background check, and drug test.
- Ability to perform physical tasks typical of construction work, including kneeling, climbing, bending, crawling, lifting 50+ lbs., and working overhead.
- Must be willing to be on a on-call schedule
