Job Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Illinois State University invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position beginning in Fall 2025. We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on educator with a strong interest in teaching and laboratory instruction.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Teach undergraduate courses and labs in mechanical engineering.

• Incorporate hands-on learning, including MATLAB, design via CAD drawing, and 3D printing, into course content.

• Support student projects and experiential learning activities.

• Contribute to the development of innovative instructional approaches.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

1.0 FTE over 9 month contract: $65,000 - $70,000 commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field

2. Experience with MATLAB, CAD drawing, and 3D printing

3. Strong commitment to teaching excellence

4. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations

5. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.

Preferred Qualifications

1. PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
