Job Summary

Part-time Lifeguard for Recreation Center pool.

Essential Functions

Maintains constant surveillance of aquatic center and pool

Enforces all pool policies and procedures while creating a welcome environment

Recognize and respond to emergencies in accordance with the emergency action plan

Administer CPR/AED and First Aid in an emergency

Prevent injuries by eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors

Supervise all patrons in the aquatic center

Maintain pool cleanliness through organization of exercise equipment and deck

Record water temperature and patron statistics daily

Maintain current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification

Create a welcome, safe, and inclusive environment for all individuals

Attend bi-annual All Staff Training and in-service trainings each term

Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Aquatics and Safety

Required Qualifications

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

Ability to commit to working a minimum of 4 hours per week

If serving as a substitute lifeguard, a commitment of at least 3 shifts per term

Ability to work early morning, evening, and/or weekend hours, including some breaks and holidays

Strong communication skills

Excellent customer service skills

Current American Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.

Additional Information

This is a Part-Time [temporary/per diem/casual] position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
