While reporting to the Director of Business Development & Marketing as an Account Manager-New Business Development, you will be responsible for coordinating all direct sales activities related to key growth target platforms, markets and prospective accounts found within assigned area of responsibility. Maintaining regular contact with those targets to grow our business and seek out new products and service opportunities. Included in this position are the day-to-day account activities that drive our organization to deliver superior service and product quality, establish strong relationships with the potential customer (plant, technical, supply chain and purchasing), prepare and executing an organic growth account plan, market analysis, planning analysis and strategic leadership to deliver profitable growth enhancing Sonoco’s overall position in all markets.
What you’ll be doing:
Aggressively seeks new business opportunities aligned with Sonoco’s new and existing innovative products/platforms/package initiatives to drive growth, prospecting with frequent regularity and discipline.
Develop and maps key relationships at multiple levels to enable the division’s broader growth plan.
Maintains up-to-date information on market conditions (both for packaging materials and for customer industry – products/ingredients).
Develop competitor packaging profiles for each major target segment.
Monitors closely all activity at each prospective customer location and reports on expansions, closings, business trends, and all other factors impacting volume levels.
Assists in the development and negotiation of contract proposals, ensures implementation and proper execution.
Seeks and promotes new uses for our technology platforms/products, highly engaged in Project Management to include determining internal resources required and coordination of those resources to execute established plan for new business launch.
Maintains detailed customer files for the division.
Provides marketing with input for use in developing long range strategic plans as well as develops and recommends strategic account plans that are consistent with overall division strategies for Sonoco teams and corporate leadership.
Uses technology and management of - remote meetings, Microsoft, CRM, LinkedIn, Salesforce, Logility, etc.
Works closely with Cost Accounting to prepare proposals and quotes and coordinates with both T&D and Operations to establish package success criteria.
Prepares proposals, quotes prices, and promises delivery within established limits and success criteria.
Delivers annual target of net profitable growth through new business and existing customer network.
This position is remote, but some travel will be needed as accounts develop.

Compensation:
The annual base salary for this role is from $147,200 to $165,600 plus an opportunity for an annual bonus based on performance.
