Are you someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, and taking pride in the upkeep of vital infrastructure that protects our community? The Lower Heart Water Board is seeking a dependable and skilled Facilities & Levee Maintenance Technician to help us maintain the integrity of our levee system and related facilities.

This part-time role is ideal for a self-starter who enjoys hands-on work, appreciates variety in their day, and values serving their community in a meaningful way. Hours will vary based on seasonal needs and weather conditions.What You’ll Do:

You'll work closely with the Lower Heart Water Board and key partners like the Corps of Engineers to:

Conduct annual inspections of the levee and confined spaces (manholes)

Maintain and operate valves, pumps, and motorized equipment (mower, skid steer, front-end loader, etc.)

Patrol the dike for debris and safety concerns

Perform seasonal maintenance: mowing, trimming, weeding, snow removal, light repairs, and more

Keep accurate inventory and maintenance records

Ensure safe, compliant vermin control and pesticide application

Maintain a clean and organized shop and work areasWhy This Role Matters:

An ideal candidate is:

Skilled in general maintenance and equipment operation

Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

Familiar with safety practices and able to assess risks

A clear communicator with a service-minded approach

Independent, reliable, and attentive to detailMinimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Valid North Dakota Driver’s License

Experience in general maintenance or a related field preferred

North Dakota Commercial Applicator’s License (or willingness to obtain)Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally

Comfortable with confined space entry

Vision requirements include near and depth perception

Willingness to be on-call during emergencies and weather eventsKey Partners You’ll Work With:
