Overview
Programmer Analyst I position specializes in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to provide key insights to the business. This position is responsible for developing process, ETL, dash boarding and reporting for ongoing analysis of gaming and non-gaming information, obtained from a variety of sources.
The position involves a good level of analysis and presentation skill and requires proficiency with analytical tools, knowledge of data analysis methodologies, use of reporting and presentation software, and strong communication skills, especially working on new property openings.
This position will act as an interface to the business owners and operational leaders, as well as the technology & financial departments, as well as implementing and supporting the Enterprise Applications and Analytics within several core functional areas of the business: resort systems (gaming and hospitality), and administrative systems (human resources and finance). The position involves analysis and presentation of information to business owners & operational leadership, including but not limited to marketing, hotel, finance, gaming operations, and human resources.
These initiatives will be done in accordance with department policies, procedures, and standards to support information systems development and maintenance.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Must adhere to the Seminole Tribe's Policies and Procedures
Gather requirements using interviews, document analysis, critical path, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis
Partake in the QA and release management of new and changes to applications through thorough testing, debugging and user acceptance before planning and executing deployment into Production
Acquire and index data, organizing data, connecting data, creating digital dashboards, and providing effective analytics in real-time, as well as providing the ability for users to dive down into the historical data, and future forecasts, that is cultivated with proper assumptions derived from appropriate research and validated by business owners and operational leaders, and in a timely manner.
Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
Develop and document enterprise-wide requirements and translate them into technical specifications, and be able to train on the specifications
Provide financial and productivity analytics and budgets, and creating automated forecasts, while also being able to articulately present to end-user audience
Documenting all processes, procedures, agendas and minutes for pertinent information for the Operations Development team
Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, decompose high-level information into details, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
Proactively communicate and collaborate with technical team and business owners to analyze information needs and functional requirements to deliver an effective solution
Be able to write complex queries to perform data analysis to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data
Monitor for timely and accurate completion of data processes and scheduled jobs and troubleshoot as necessary
Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
Identify problematic areas and conduct research to determine the best course of action to solve the problems
Troubleshoot and research data anomalies and recommend corrective actions
In collaboration with business owners, interpret data and develop recommendations based on findings
Develop dashboard, graphs, reports, and presentations of project results
Collaborate with the database administration, infrastructure, operations, and other administrative teams
Provides timely and accurate progress information to project status reports
Provides technical assistance to other developers and business analysts when needed
Employs productivity aids in all aspects of assignments
Maintains and enhances technical skills through formal and on-the-job training
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelors or Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields preferred or equivalent experience
Casino gaming or Hospitality background or experience preferred but not required
3-5 years related experience as BI Developer or similar position
Expert in business intelligence performance management software, and data visualization tools, including but not limited to SQL, Tableau, Cognos, Microsoft SHRSS, Power BI, SSIS, SAAS, etc.
Experience with the T-SQL scripting/programming language, including the ability to develop, test, and debug ad-hoc queries, stored procedures, and data migration scripts.
Knowledge of standard data modeling patterns and practices, e.g. Relational and Dimensional models.
Solid understanding of ETL strategies and design, (staging environments, data transformation, change data capture, slowly changing dimensions, etc.), with an eye towards delivering functional and useful solutions in a timely manner.
Strong analysis, coding, testing, documenting and implementation experience in both a development and maintenance environment. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Intermediate knowledge of statistics
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal with a diverse range of people, which includes the upper levels of corporate management
Self-sufficient, requiring limited supervision over job knowledge, expectations and successful project completion.
