Your New Job

The Position

We are seeking an experienced GIS Solutions Architect to lead the design, development, and management of enterprise GIS systems using the ESRI technology stack. This role requires deep expertise in spatial data architecture, application integration, and advanced automation using tools such as FME, Python, REST, and ESRI APIs. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on architect with experience in Enterprise GIS development, and enterprise system administration.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

Architect and Manage Enterprise GIS Environments:

Design, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade GIS platforms using ArcGIS Enterprise, including ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Data Store, and Web Adaptor to support high availability, scalability, and performance.

GIS Database Development and Management:

Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise geodatabases using SDE with back-end support in SQL Server. Establish schema designs, spatial indexing strategies, versioning workflows, and data governance practices.

Utility Network Modeling and Implementation:

Design and implement data models for including network topology, rules, asset packages, tracing configurations, and integration with enterprise asset management (EAM) systems.

Data Integration and Automation using FME:

Create and manage spatial and non-spatial data transformation workflows using FME Flow Server and FME Forms for data ETL between GIS and external systems (CAD, IoT platforms, databases, APIs), including automation of quality control and synchronization tasks.

Geospatial Application Development and Customization:

Develop advanced, responsive web applications and dashboards using ArcGIS Experience Builder, ArcGIS Dashboards, and ArcGIS JavaScript API to support real-time decision-making, field operations, and user interaction.

Mobile and Field GIS Deployment:

Deploy and manage ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, and QuickCapture for mobile data collection. Design custom smart forms, offline workflows, webhooks, and location tracking features to support field crews.

Python Scripting and Automation:

Develop scripts and tools using Python and ArcGIS API for Python to automate GIS workflows, including data processing, service publishing, system monitoring, and task scheduling.

REST API and Web Hook Integrations:

Build integrations between GIS and other enterprise systems using ESRI REST APIs, webhooks, and custom middleware to enable real-time data sharing, alerts, and business logic execution.

Geoprocessing Services and Custom Tools:

Publish, manage, and optimize geoprocessing services to support analytical and operational workflows, integrating with web apps, dashboards, and backend systems.

Custom Scripting and Web Frameworks:

Utilize Web2Py and other Python-based web frameworks for lightweight GIS applications and API development. Develop user interfaces and middleware for GIS tools and services.

Dynamic Expressions and Map Behavior:

Implement advanced logic and interactivity using Arcade expressions for symbology, pop-ups, calculated fields, attribute rules, and real-time visualizations within web maps and apps.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

Collaborate with IT, planning, operations, and executive stakeholders to understand business needs, gather requirements, and translate them into scalable GIS solutions.

Mentoring and Technical Leadership:

Provide strategic guidance, mentorship, and training to GIS analysts, developers, and administrators. Promote GIS best practices, code reusability, system documentation, and process standardization.

System Monitoring and Optimization:

Monitor the health, usage, and performance of GIS infrastructure. Identify and implement tuning, load balancing, and fault tolerance measures to ensure optimal uptime and responsiveness.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

· 10+ years of experience in GIS development and architecture with a focus on ESRI technologies.

· Expert-level knowledge of ESRI Enterprise and AGOL technology stack.

· Proven experience with FME Flow Server and FME Forms for data, system integration and automation.

· Strong programming skills in Python, Arcade, .Net C#, with experience using the ArcGIS Python API and Web2Py.

· Understanding of ESRI Utility Network, including modeling, rules configuration, and validation.

· Experience with developing and deploying web GIS apps using ESRI JavaScript API, Map SDK and Arcade.

· Proficiency in managing and developing geoprocessing services and RESTful GIS services.

· Expert-level knowledge with Field Maps, Survey123, and QuickCapture for mobile workflows.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience integrating GIS with enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, asset management systems).

· Understanding of Azure DevOps pipelines, backlogs, sprints, version control (e.g., Git) and agile methodologies.

· Knowledge of open-source geospatial tools and data formats (GeoJSON, GeoPackage, etc.).
