Overview:

We are looking for an entry-level paralegal to join our legal team. The role includes drafting and submitting regulatory filings with Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, communicating with municipal and state government employees, and legal research. A candidate with tobacco and/or cannabis regulatory experience is preferred but not required. Recent college graduates or individuals with an expected graduation date in May 2025 are encouraged to apply. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong research skills, the ability to monitor and adhere to deadlines, and effective communication skills.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

- Drafting and submitting filings to the Cannabis Regulatory Agency of Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and municipal governments.

- Researching local ordinances in connection with our growth and acquisition strategy for tobacco and cannabis businesses.

- Researching and drafting written correspondence related to zoning regulations to support our growth and acquisition strategy for tobacco retail locations.

- Tracking important deadlines with applications and ongoing license maintenance for our tobacco and cannabis businesses.

- Communicating with employees of the Cannabis Regulatory Agency and municipal governments about our applications and ongoing license maintenance efforts.

- Assisting attorneys with drafting corporate governance documents and other legal deliverables as needed.

Qualifications:

- Associate or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, business administration, or a related field.

- Strong analytical and research skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
