Purpose:
This position is responsible for taking care of the red meat workstation and operating its specific functions, such as manually cutting the red meat (Beef/Lamb) and placing it into the grinding machine. The purpose of this position is to ensure that the red meat is defrosted and is ready to be placed in the grinding machine.
Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Assist in the preparation of food products, including poultry, lamb, and beef, for distribution to different locations.
Shift rotations occur every 2 hours. Different shift placements are:
o Assist in separating chicken legs
o Aid in hanging chicken legs on a machine for deboning
o Assist in quality checks of processed products and sorting them accordingly
o Support in marinating processes using machinery
o Assist in assembling boxes and packaging final products
o Help with arranging products into boxes and stacking them onto pallets
o Assist in wrapping pallets with plastic film
o Support in meat cutting and vegetable grinding tasks
o Maintain cleanliness in the workplace
Assist in labeling, packaging, and handling selected products
Follow product quality standards diligently
Assist in the transfer and reception of products
Perform ad-hoc tasks related to production as required.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Minimum High School (Grade 12) Diploma.
Work in the raw meat processing industry is an asset.
Previous meat-cutting experience is preferred.
GMP and/or Food Handling training is an asset.
Knowledge of HACCPs principles preferred.
Ability to use a knife safely and other tools effectively
Intermediate skills required for Word and Excel.
Ability to work independently and complete daily activities
Ability to carry 50 lbs. and work in cold conditions.
"Can do" attitude with a willingness to learn.
Outstanding attention to detail
Excellent hand-eye coordination and decision-making skills
Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Working in an environment with a strong smell of raw poultry and meat
Working in various cold temperatures (approximately 6 Degrees)
Fast-paced environment
Performing repetitive tasks
Physical Effort: This is a physically demanding position and will require continuous standing for extended periods of time, as well as some heavy lifting.
Knife work involves regular repetitive use of hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders.
