Position Summary

Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of servers and storage. Maintain Active Directory and Exchange. Implement and monitor the backup program. Implement and troubleshoot certain applications, and act as a backup to the

Network Engineer and Database Administrator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Build and provision physical and virtual servers and storage in several locations.

Monitor server and storage health. Perform preventative and recovery measures when appropriate.

Update and patch servers, storage, and workstations for Windows in accordance with best practices, performance, and security.

Administer storage solutions, including permissions and sizing. Install and configure additional storage as needed.

Maintain Active Directory, including creating, modifying, deleting accounts, and maintaining file share permissions.

Maintain the Exchange environment including the archival, spam and malware tools associated with email.

Monitor the periodic backup jobs according to the backup schedule, whether hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly.

Implement the necessary and appropriate infrastructure for each software system. May include setting up the environment as well as installing the application components.

Troubleshoot problems with applications that may be related to the infrastructure environment, and provide related patches and updates to resolve issues.

Resolve Help Desk issues related to the infrastructure that are beyond their expertise or permissions.

Perform basic Database and Network administration activities in a backup capacity, including managing URL filtering.

Work closely with each of the other groups in IT to provide the best possible network, uptime, and service to the Company’s business units.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Weekly on-call rotation and responsibilities during off-hours to monitor and respond to alerts, outages, and certain helpdesk incidents.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, Licensure

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field of study; or

Two (2) to three (3) years of system administration experience.

Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure

Two (2) years of experience with Cisco UCS servers, NetApp and VMWare.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and communication systems.

Familiarity with data center environment.

Physical Demands

Occasional field location visits may present more strenuous exertion than office work, like walking around a field location and interacting with the user community located there.

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel may be required to other locations where servers and storage are kept.
