Job Title: Controller

Location and Work Type: Belleville, MI 100% On-site Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm (flexible start/end times)

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 + Bonus Role Summary

Our client, a well-established and growing company based in Belleville, MI, is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function with precision, ownership, and a solutions-oriented mindset. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take the reins on month-end close, intercompany transactions, and financial reporting, while also driving improvements and redefining team responsibilities as part of a leadership transition.

Lead the month-end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting

Manage intercompany transactions and oversee treasury functions, including bank account activity and reconciliations

Prepare financial statements and handle GL accounting and account reconciliations

Apply and maintain POC (percentage-of-completion) accounting where applicable

Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations

Play a key role in the annual audit process and support audit readinessRequired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

CPA or CMA designation preferred

Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including prior leadership or Controller-level experience

Strong understanding of GAAP, intercompany accounting, and treasury management

Hands-on experience with the month-end close process, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Strong communication and team leadership skillsDesired Qualifications

Experience with POC accounting and multi-entity environments

Background in manufacturing, construction, or a related industry

ERP system proficiency and Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)

Proven ability to drive process improvements and enhance reporting structures
