The AIX Platform Services Engineer will be responsible for planning, development, implementation and maintenance of several software products at client relating to the IBM. AIX operating system and IBM Power Systems hardware. This individual will also be responsible for designing HA, DR and business continuity solutions with IBM PowerHA and its overall integration with underlying compute platform, e.g. hardware, systems software, operating systems, network and storage.
Key responsibilities:
Build, document, test and certify AIX loads
Manage and lead escalated support and problem resolution activities for system hardware, and software; acting as Level 3 support for AIX
Lead and direct the future use and development of IBM/pSeries solutions at client
Lead and direct the development of support guidelines and procedures with participation from Operations Analysts and Architects
Train operations system administration staff in support of various software and hardware products
Provide support for AIX solutions at client
Document various client internal security and architecture documents
Document engineering and operational runbooks
Skills Required:
6+ years of experience with AIX system administration
1-2 years IBM PowerHA experience (now called SystemMirror)
Thorough knowledge of pSeries hardware, VIO, HMC, NIM and PowerVM
1-2 years of experience in a security related field
Experience working in a server operations role for a large heterogeneous environment
Good Communication Skills and ability to utilize desktop tools to accelerate communications (Wikis, IM, WebEx, etc.)
2+ years of experience with Scripting - Shell, Ruby, Python, PERL or Javascript
Systems Engineering or Enterprise Architecture background preferred

Ability to be a self-starter, looking for improvements to processes and business offerings
Ability to clearly explain technical issues in a non-technical fashion
Ability to create complex, technical documentation for operational use

Experience Preferred:
Experience with IBM PowerVC, IBM BigFix, IBM PowerVM toolkit and other IBM software a plus
Experience with GitHub, Agile methodologies and REST APIs
Experience with IBM Power Mobile Cores/Capacity on Demand
Experience with an Enterprise configuration management tool, like Puppet or CHEF is a plus.
Education Required:
B.S. Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent work experience in the requested field.
