Summary:

The Principal SAP ABAP Developer will be responsible for design, development, testing, implementation and documentation of Development objects for Hollister’s SAP environment.

These objects include, but are not limited to: SAP ABAP Programs, function modules, forms, and data dictionary items. This position calls for a very good understanding of SAP development languages, development practices, standards and deployment processes. This resource will be a key member of Hollister’s SAP modernization from ECC to S4.

The position requires very little direction, and tasks are generally complex and broad in both scope and implications. Associates at this level would have advanced technical knowledge and be expected to look forward to potential new methods or technologies within their discipline, to proactively identify and address issues, and to have the ability to mentor lower-level Associates.

The position requires practical experience working in SAP ECC systems as well as familiarity with the structural and technical differences introduced in S/4HANA. This includes knowledge of transitioning custom code, adapting enhancements to new extensibility models, and supporting the simplification of legacy processes in line with S/4HANA architecture.

Additionally, the associate will be called upon to work with Project Managers, Process Leads and other people in the process organization to discuss development requests / requirements.

Responsibilities:

Architect and deliver robust SAP solutions using:

ABAP (OO, Reports, Enhancements, BADIs, BAPIs, CDS, AMDP)

SAP Fiori/UI5, RAP, and CAP (on SAP BTP)

SAP Console and ITS Mobile for RF-based data collection on handheld devices

Classic Dynpro, Screen Painter, and Menu Painter for legacy UI extensions

Develop and support warehouse and manufacturing mobility solutions via:

SAP Console transactions (text-based interface for RF devices)

ITS Mobile and RFUI for browser-based access

Device-specific optimization for scanners (e.g., Zebra, Honeywell)

Drive system extensibility using Clean Core strategy:

In-app extensibility via key user tools

Side-by-side extensibility on BTP

Avoidance of core modifications

Design and expose services using OData, SOAP, REST, IDocs, and RFCs

Collaborate on middleware integration using Boomi, SAP CPI, and API Management

Contribute to SAP DevOps processes:

Automated testing, transport automation

Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentoring to other developers

Support system upgrades and cloud migrations by aligning code to SAP's clean and composable architecture vision.

Successful candidates will be required to work 3 days a week from our Hollister office in Libertyville, IL (USA), ensuring consistent collaboration and team engagement. For the remaining days, you have the flexibility to work remotely. As such, it's essential for candidates to be based near a Hollister office to facilitate easy commuting. We believe this approach fosters a dynamic work environment while respecting the need for work-life balance.

Essential Functions of the Role:

Talk on the phone with Hollister and JDS Associates globally

Read technical manuals / trade journals

Use a personal computer and strong proficiency in Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word

Travel via plane or automobile as required

Requirements:

Number of overall years necessary: 12-15

Minimum of 10 years of SAP development experience, including ABAP, with a bachelor’s degree, or 14 years of experience with a high school diploma.

Demonstrated significant global project success

BS/BA Computer Science or equivalent related field of study

Or MS/MTech in Computer Science or equivalent field of study

Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge:

Minimum 10 years’ experience in:

ABAP development

Reports (List, Interactive & ALV)

Function Modules including RFCs

User Exits/BADI’s/Enhancement Spots

Classes, Methods and Interfaces

Dialog/Module Pool Programming for building Custom Transactions

RF Console Transaction Development

Data Dictionary

LSMW

Interface Programming

ALE/EDI/IDOC Technologies

Web Services and ABAP Proxies

SAP Scripts/Smart forms/Adobe Forms

ECC includes at least 3 modules (i.e. MM, PP, FI, CO, SD, HR etc.)

Preferences:

BTP Architecture, development, and support experience

SAP Workflow knowledge

2EE certification

ME/MII and/or DMC experience

Experience in developing CI/CD processes that include Automated testing and code quality scanning

Fluent in English, written and verbal

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $131,000 - $190,000 yearly. The actual salary varies based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, abilities, and other legitimate business factors.

This position is also eligible to participate in the Hollister Corporate Bonus Plan. The Company also provides a unique Benefit of Employee Share Ownership Program (BESOP) program based on earnings and length of service.
