Position Title: Estimator

Duration: Full Time, Direct Hire

Compensation: $80,000-$120,000/Year

Job Overview:

Insight Global's client in the Salt Lake City, Utah area is looking for an entry-level Estimator to join their Transmission and Distribution team! This individual is going to be responsible for preparing cost estimates for various transmission, distribution and substation electrical construction projects. Below are additional key responsibilities for this position:

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare cost estimates for projects involving transmission, distribution, and substations.

Develop detailed estimates with minimal errors.

Use historical data to set production assumptions.

Monitor and compare project histories to update man-hours and costs.

Plan and execute tasks to meet customer deadlines.

Schedule and participate in field job walks with customers, subcontractors, and construction teams to assess constructability.

Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits.

Field job walks and pre-bid meetings may require travel and overnight stays.

Identify and qualify suppliers and subcontractors.

Perform precise material takeoffs for vendor pricing.

Request pricing from material vendors and subcontractors, and compile project documentation into RFQ/RFP packages.

Prepare commercial aspects of proposals, including work plans and clarifications.

Ensure accuracy and consistency across project documents.

Review and coordinate contract redlines with the legal department, understanding their impact on bids and work.

Prepare billing according to customer requirements and manage change orders.

Develop and use construction schedules.

Participate in job close-out meetings to finalize the estimating process.

Qualifications:

Minimum 1 - 3 years of Estimating experience

Transmission, distribution, and substation experience preferred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a similar field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
