We are seeking a seasoned Permanent Counsel (Pensions, Benefits & Investments) to join our dynamic and fast-paced legal team. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced legal professional to provide strategic advice and counsel on a wide range of complex issues related to pensions, benefits, and investments. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing risks and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role involves a high level of interaction with senior management and requires the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Provide legal advice and guidance on issues related to pensions, benefits, and investments.
2. Draft, negotiate, and review legal documents and contracts related to pension plans, employee benefits, and investment strategies.
3. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to pensions, benefits, and investments.
4. Represent the organization in legal proceedings, including class action lawsuits.
5. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support decision-making and strategy development.
6. Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement effective risk management strategies.
7. Provide training and education to employees on legal issues related to pensions, benefits, and investments.
8. Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations that may impact the organization's pension plans, benefits, and investments.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a legal role with a focus on pensions, benefits, and investments.
3. In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations related to pensions, benefits, and investments.
4. Experience with CEQA, NEPA, Environment, Transportation, Utilities.
5. Proven experience in handling class action lawsuits.
6. Strong legal research and writing skills.
7. Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
10. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
11. Membership in good standing with a State Bar.
